Natural Home Remedies For Yeast Infection

A yeast infection, also known as Candida, is basically caused by a group of microscopic fungi or yeast called Candida albicans. Some of the signs of a yeast infection are itching, burning or swelling in and around the affected area. If it is a vaginal yeast infection, there will be pain or discomfort in the vagina during sex, a burning feeling when urinating, and odorless vaginal discharge. While medical remedies help to cure a yeast infection, natural cures are considered better in the long run. Here are some natural cures for a yeast infection.

Natural Home Remedies For Yeast Infection

1 . Yogurt

Yogurt is a common ingredient that helps you cure yeast infection. A bacteria called ‘Lactobacillus acidophilus’ is present in the yogurt which can control and handle the infectious growth in your body. You can use either plain yogurt or unsweetened yogurt in its treatment. Apply plain yogurt externally on the affected area and leave it for one hour. Doing this will relieve you of the itch. In case of vaginal yeast infection, dip a tampon in yogurt and put it in the vagina and leave it for about two hours, repeat this two times a day. Include yogurt in your daily diet plan.

2 .  Apple Cider Vinegar

If you are suffering from a yeast infection anywhere in your body especially the breast and the armpit region, apple cider vinegar can be used to cure it. Take a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and put them in your bath water. Now have a hot bath with this water. Not only will you feel relaxed but the itching and redness caused by the yeast infection will also subside making you feel a lot better.

3 . Garlíc

Not everyone líkes the smell of garlíc, but there are also capsules you can use as a home remedy for vagínal yeast ínfectíon. If usíng fresh garlíc, peel one clove of garlíc and ínsert dírectly ínto the vagína just before bed. Remove ít the next morníng. If usíng fresh garlíc cloves, don’t slíce ít and make sure ít’s a whole clove wíth cuts ín ít. Many women wouldn’t feel comfortable doíng thís, and that’s okay. Use the tríple dose of garlíc capsules untíl symptoms resolve. 

4 . Boric Acid

Boric acid does play a promising role when it comes to fighting vaginal yeast infection. It has a mild antiseptic and antifungal property but however is not suitable to be used by pregnant women. All you have to do is to dilute some boric acid with water, and then apply on the infected area. Leave it on for two to three minutes before rinsing off.

5 . Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera also has antifungal properties like other remedies above which works wonders on yeast infection. Take 1 tbsp aloe vera gel internally twice a day and apply it topically until it heals.

6 . Honey

Apply fresh honey liberally on the vaginal area to get relief from yeast infection. Honey has a soothing effect that reduces vaginal itching effectively. Try this treatment while you are in the bathroom.

Wash away the honey from the vagina after 20 minutes. You can also apply honey to treat oral thrush.

7 . Olive Leaf

Another effective home remedy for the treatment of yeast infection is olive leaf extract. It has various properties including anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory. Simultaneously it can extract and restore the content of good bacteria in your body. In order to make olive leaf extract, you’ll need some fresh olive leaves, finely chop them and place them into a jar preferably made of glass with a lid. After this pour some vodka over the leaves, until they get completely immersed. No close the lid tightly and store it for about 4 weeks in a dark place. Now strain the liquid and apply this olive leaf solution over the infected skin area directly. Repeat this process 3 times a day to better results.

8 .  Coconut oil

Coconut oil is well known for its antifungal and anti-inflammation properties and is pretty effective in killing any sort of bacteria, including that of a yeast infection. Apply coconut oil directly on the infected area twice a day. You may also mix with a few drops of cinnamon oil for better results.

9 . Cranberries

Cranberries, which are also used to treat urinary tract and bladder infections, are antibacterial and anti fungal. They kill the bacteria and fungi that cause yeast infections. Drinking unsweetened cranberry juice or taking cranberry tablets(2 to 3 times a day) several times a day helps cure yeast infections fast.
