17 Natural Foods For Flat Stomach (Belly)

1 . Almonds (With Skins)

This nut is packed with belly busting power. Almonds help build muscle, reduce cravings, and make a most convenient snack. Avoid salted almonds. Instead, nibble on raw almonds that still have their skin.  Slow Cooker Almond Blast Oatmeal and Chocolate Cheesecake with Raspberry Sauce are great ways to add almonds to your diet.

2 . Olive Oil

Mad but true  fat can help you to lose weight. Poly unsaturated fats like those found in olive oil can stave off hunger pains, while olive oil itself contains a naturally-occurring chemical called oleic acid, which aids the breakdown of excess fats in the body.

3 . Organic Almond Milk

Not only are almonds packed full of skin-boosting vitamin E and protein, but their high fibre content stops you feeling hungry. In 2007, researchers at Purdue University also reported that – despite the fact they are relatively high in calories – almonds themselves do not contribute to belly fat. Swap out your usual mid-morning snack for a handful and see if it makes a difference.

4 . Canola Oil

Already dubbed a heart-healthy cooking oil, canola now touts another boon: when Brazilian researchers fed rats a diet containing either canola or soybean oil for two months, the soybean-oil eaters gained nearly 20 percent more fat in and around the organs of the belly (also known as visceral fat) than those that chowed on the canola-oil-enriched diet. While researchers can’t say exactly how much canola oil people would need to include in their diet to achieve this effect, they believe that canola oil’s high omega-3 content lowers insulin levels, ultimately discouraging fat storage in the abdomen.

5 . Yoghurt

Not only is yogurt low in fat and calories, so good as a weight loss food, but many yogurts also contain active cultures (probiotics) which promote the growth of good bacteria in the gut and help with digestion, excess gas and bloating. Yoghurt is luckily easy to fit into any diet plan as part of a meal or a snack between meals. You could also try combining natural yogurt, berries and flax seeds in a morning smoothie or bowl of cereal, getting you off to a great tummy-trimming start before you even leave the house.

6 . Soybeans

Soybeans are a super belly fat fighter. Soybeans help thwart the accumulation of fats and change fats into energy. Because soybeans are easy to digest they help flush pesky belly fat. Soybeans are a great alkaline food to add to your diet.

7 . Walnuts

Walnuts are wonderful. Walnuts contain a hefty amount of Omega 3 fatty acids that help the body burn fat. Be sure to avoid salted walnuts- eat them all-natural instead. Our Walnut Crusted Chicken Breasts and a Chicken Salad Sandwich with Bok Choy, Red Grapes and Walnuts are perfect additions to your menu plans.

8 . Red Peppers

In a recent Journal of Nutrition study, Dutch researchers asked 374 men about the foods they ate most frequently. They found that those whose diets contained the most beta carotene and lycopene (phytochemicals that make carrots orange and give red peppers and tomatoes their brilliant hue) had the smallest waists and the least abdominal fat. Because beta carotene and lycopene are potent antioxidants, researchers think they may mop up the harmful compounds that promote fat storage. Peppers are also packed with vitamin C, a nutrient needed for fat burning.

This makes watercress a powerful cleansing agent, improving the digestion and nourishing the skin, while its diuretic properties help to flush out toxins and excess fluids. Watercress is also a fabulous source of iodine, which helps to boost your metabolism, so it makes sense to include it in your diet if you’re striving to achieve a flat stomach.

12 . Bananas

Contrary to what some people believe, bananas contribute to weight loss NOT gain. Eating a banana is not just a great way to provide your body with skin-healing zinc, brain-powering slow release energy and filling fibre, but can also help you to relieve water retention thanks to the high levels of potassium they contain.

Source it out in Japanese supermarkets or pick up from health food stores in a supplement form.

15 . Whole Grains

When researchers from Pennsylvania State University placed volunteers on a three-month weight-loss program and instructed one group to eat only whole grains for their grain servings and the other group to choose only refined grains (and avoid whole grains entirely), the whole-grain eaters melted significantly more abdominal fat. While the fiber in whole grains may deserve some of the credit, researchers note that whole grains are rich in magnesium, a mineral instrumental in regulating fat metabolism.

16 . Green Tea

Addicted to your builder’s brew? It may be time for a change. Swopping to green tea has been found to assist the body in flushing out excess fluids, helping to calm bloating around the stomach caused by water retention. A bowl of guacamole and a bag of chips isn’t what we have in mind. But slice up a fresh avocado and you’ll get about 15g of fiber- a great way to keep hunger at bay. Plus, enjoy just ¼ cup of avocado and you’ll be rewarded with a full serving of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) which help burn belly fat.
