Underarm odor develops when bacteria feed off the sweat produced by the apocrine sweat glands. While it is of cosmetic concern, underarm odor is rarely serious. However, a sudden change in odor may indicate a potentially serious disease, such as diabetes, liver or kidney disease. Therefore, new cases of body odor require medical evaluation. If your underarm odor is not caused by any underlying medical problem then you can cure this problem simply by following given natural remedies:

14 Natural Home Remedies to Cure Underarm Odor

1 .  Bathing and Personal Hygiene

Of course, you should bathe or shower at least once a day. But to stop a problem with underarm perspiration odors, you should bathe or shower twice a day. If you haven't got the time to climb in the tub or shower that often, then at least wash your underarms. Use an antibacterial soap that will kill the bacteria under your arms. Rinse with clean water, then dry your underarms thoroughly with a soft towel- never just allow your underarms to "air dry". Finally, reapply a homemade product that will stop underarm perspiration odors.

Baby wipes or moist towelettes can also be used to wash your underarms when you're away from home. Just be sure you use anti-bacterial products that will kill the odor-causing bacteria.

2  . Vinegar, Witch Hazel, Peroxide, and Tea Tree Oil

Apple cider vinegar, white vinegar and witch hazel reduce underarmodor by lowering the skin’s pH. The bacteria responsible for underarm odor cannot survive when the skin's pH is low. To combat odor, soak a cotton ball in witch hazel or vinegar and apply it to the underarms instead of, or before, deodorant. According to recent researches 3% hydrogen peroxide is effective against body odor when diluted with water and used as a skin rinse. Tea tree oil may also be beneficial due to its antibacterial properties.

3 . Baking soda and Lemon

Make a mixture of Baking soda and Lemon juice and then apply this mixture to your underarms. This mixture also helps in absorbing sweat and prevent odor causing bacterial growth.

4 . Turnip(shaljam) juice

Turnip(shaljam) juice is also effective in removing body odor. Squeeze the fresh grated pieces of Turnip to extract the juice. Apply this juice to your underarms.

5 . Baking Soda and Cornstarch

Baking soda and cornstarch can be used individually or together to help eliminate underarm odor. Baking soda, when applied to the underarms, will help absorb sweat, kill bacteria, and act as a deodorant. Apply the powder directly to dry underarms. Cornstarch is extremely absorbent and may be more useful than baking soda in cases of excessive perspiration. The two can also be mixed together for a combination application.

6 . Use alum

You can also use alum to eliminate underarm odor but not use an antiperspirant. Frequent use of antiperspirants can clog the sweat glands.

7 . Rose Water

Almost all of  us are acquainted with the awakening scent of rose water . Dip a cotton ball in rose water and apply it in the armpits. You can also put some drops rose water into your bath to get rid of this annoying problem .

8 . Drink Plenty of Water

You might think that drinking water will only increase your problem with underarm perspiration odors. More water equal more perspiration. On the contrary, keeping your body properly hydrated will help flush the wastes out of your body. Therefore, you'll have less toxins in your perspiration. Less toxins equal less bacteria which means less odor.

How much is enough water? Take the test: if your urine is clear and odorless throughout the day, then you're drinking enough water. Otherwise, you need to increase your water intake.

9 . Use radish juice

Radish is also effective in preventing body odor. Grated radish and squeeze the fruit to obtain the extract. Spread radish extract on the underarms.

10 . Drink Sage Tea.

Sage has a natural antiperspirant element. If you drink it throughout the day, it will help eliminate your overall sweat problem. If you want a quick fix, you can dip a cotton ball into a highly concentrated glass of tea and then rub it under your armpits. This will temporarily stop your sweating.

11 . Lemon Juice Home Remedy

Lemons are high in vitamin C, making them very god for anti aging, but they can also be used to lighten the skin. One of the most effective ways to lighten underarms is to rub them with lemon juice every day before taking a bath. Lemon is a natural bleaching agent and will slowly lighten the area. After your bath, use a good moisturizer to soften the skin under your arms.

12 . Stress Reduction

Stress, anxiety, anger and excitement increase sweat production. Learning to control these emotions can reduce underarm moisture and odor. Relaxation techniques, such as meditation, yoga, biofeedback, and guided imagery are effective stress-reducers for many people. Chronic stress or anxiety may require professional evaluation and treatment.

13 . Change Your Diet

Some foods and spices may cause bad odors to exude through your pores after you eat them. This includes onions and garlic, as well as caffeinated drinks, according to the Mayo Clinic. Changing your diet to take out these items may improve your general body odor.

14 . Healthy diet

Studies show that if you are overweight, obese, or even just an unhealthy eater, you've placed more strain on your body, which makes movement more difficult and makes it easier for you to sweat, thereby attracting bacteria that can cause underarm odor. If you're overweight, it may be time to eat a more balanced diet to shed those pounds and eliminate that pesky underarm odor.
