1 . White Vinegar

After you rinse out the shampoo, rinse it again using 50% water and 50% white kitchen vinegar. The vinegar helps dissolve the bodies of dead nits. Rub it in vigorously, then rinse your hair a few times to dispel the odour.

2 . Neem Oil Shampoo


Neem oil, like tea tree oil, is also considered all natural insecticide. Used by gardeners safely to prevent and kill pests on plants it is just as safe and effective in the treatment of lice. Once a lice infestation is realized begin using a neem oil based shampoo or add few teaspoons of neem oil to your normal shampoo.

3 . Olive Oil

As a matter of fact, olive oil can be very useful against lice and for keeping your scalp hydrated. If you apply a thick coating of olive oil on your scalp, lice will no longer thrive and their eggs will not survive either the only way to prevent lice infection is by combing and removing nits, and olive oil surely comes in handy. However, the olive oil treatment is a relatively lengthy one as the results will not be visible over the night.

4 . Coconut oil

Just as with the above healing oil treatment prior to applying coconut oil rinse the hair with apple cider vinegar and allow it to dry. Apply coconut oil to the hair, cover with a shower cap, and leave in for 6-8 hours or overnight. Comb hair with a nit comb. Shampoo normally. Apply this treatment to the hair and scalp every day for five days to get rid of lice.

5 . Eruca Sativa Seeds Oil And Yogurt

Mix 1 teaspoon Oil of Eruca sativa seeds in 7-8 tablespoon of Yogurt. Apply this mixture with your fingertips on your scalp and leave it for 1-2 hour and wash your hair with a regular shampoo.

6 . Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar  Before and after shampooing, rinse your hair with vinegar or soak hair with vinegar and leave it on for a few minutes before combing with a nit comb. Towel dry hair. This will help remove nits from the hair shaft.

7 . Lemon grass oil, Citronella oil and Egg Yolk

Mix Lemon grass oil and citronella oil in 1-2 egg yolk. Apply it on your scalp with your fingertips leave it for 1-2 hours and then rinse with warm water. Repeat it twice a week.

8 . Ginger Water, green Tea bag, lemon juice And Olive Oil

Mix 4-5 tablespoons of ginger water, 1 green tea bag, 1 lemon juice and 1 tablespoon Olive Oil in a large bowl of water. After shampoo rinse your hair with this mixture for 10-15 minutes, during this use nit combing and then wash your hair again.

9 . Onion Juice

This is one of the cheapest and most effective remedies for treating hair lice. Extract the juice and apply it on your scalp to the tip of the hair. The sulphur present in the juice will help you get rid of the lice once and for all. Repeat the procedure for 4 consecutive days because the nits (eggs of the head lice) will only be removed on the 2 or 3 day of use.

10 . Custard Apple Seeds

Use custard apple seeds by making its powder. Add ample amount of water to turn the powder into a paste with thick consistency that you will apply on your scalp for overnight. Wash your hair with a mild shampoo twice, the following day. This remedy is effective on dandruff as well.

 11 . Garlic

Grind 8 to 10 cloves of garlic all together to create a paste. Add in 2 to 3 teaspoons of lime juice or water (if using water add 10-15 drops of tea tree oil) and apply this to the scalp. Leave in this paste for ½ hour and rinse out thoroughly.

 12 . Mayonnaise

No matter how unusual and weird it sounds, Mayonnaise actually helps in smothering lice and is a quick remedy. Spread it all over your hair until it’s entirely covered. Put a plastic cover bag over your head, gather it at the bottom and secure it tightly. Let it remain for an hour before you wash your hair. Lastly, remove the dead lice with the help of a lice comb.
